This vibrant new production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream brings Shakespeare’s most magical comedy into the present with a bold, playful, and modern eye. While staying true to the heart of the original text, we explore themes that feel strikingly relevant today—particularly gender roles, freedom of identity, and who gets to choose how we live and love.

At the centre of our interpretation is the contrast between two worlds. The human world is shaped by rigid, patriarchal traditions, where fathers control their daughters’ futures and marriage is a matter of obedience rather than choice. Opposite this stands the fairy world: untamed, expressive, and gloriously free. Inspired by 90s rave culture, our fairies exist beyond rules and labels, celebrating fluidity, self-expression, and joy through music, movement, and fashion. This clash of tradition and liberation highlights just how radical Shakespeare’s ideas still are when viewed through a modern lens.

Set in a timeless space that blends old values with contemporary energy, this production weaves pulsing music, bold visuals, and playful theatricality throughout the story. Our first performance will take place at Mill Street Café in St Osyth, where we are working closely with the café’s owners to transform the space into an immersive, magical setting. We are thrilled to bring this joyful, rebellious piece of theatre to the heart of a wonderful rural village— We will be performing A Midsummer Nights Dream on Midsummer 2026 and to invite audiences to lose themselves in a midsummer night like no other.
